survived the war since Arkansas pension records show he died
there 3/12/1916

Roll dated 1/30/1865 shows him sick at Piedmont, Va hospital,

possibility that this is Alva C Brake from Co B 41st Ga
Infantry, Alva is shown as having enlisted in Co B of the 41st
on 3/4/1862, His record with this unit ends without explanation
in November 1862 but records for David R Adams of Co O seem to
indicate that he and Brake swapped units

John H Brake -  Enlisted in Co D 7th Ga Infantry 8/23/1861 and
served until 2/5/1862 when given a disability discharge,
Reenlisted in Co O 5/6/1862 as 2nd Cpl, Promoted 5th Sgt
10/16/1862, WIA (left shoulder) 12/13/1862 at Fredericksburg,
WIA (hand) 5/6/1864 at the Wilderness, Captured 4/6/1865 at
Sailors Creek and imprisoned at Point Lookout until released
6/24/1865, Oath shows him to be 5'10" with brown hair and hazel
eyes, Born 1/2/1840, He married and became a policeman in
Americus Ga after the war and was murdered 12/28/1880 in a
dispute with a man named Stovall, Buried at Oak Grove Cemetery
in Americus

Alabama states his age as 65

G A Camp - No muster roll entries, Possible late war recruit or
conscript, There is a G H Camp 40 listed in the 1860 Cobb
census and this might be him, Captured 4/6/1865 at Sailors
Creek and imprisoned at Point Lookout until released 6/9/1865

Thomas L Camp - Enlisted 5/6/1862, Transferred to Co A 40th Ga
Infantry 1/1/1863, Elected 2nd Lt 4/4/1863, Resigned 4/13/1865

James H Carlisle - Enlisted 5/6/1862, Furloughed home sick from
Richmond GH #13 10/16/1862, Absent sick on 1863 rolls and on
roll dated 1/19/1864, Detailed as nurse to Winder hospital
Richmond 5/6/1864, Furloughed to Griffin Ga 8/20/1864, Paid at
Atlanta 10/16/1864, AWOL on 12/31/1864 roll, No further
military record but Ga pension application for his wodow
indicates he died in Cobb County, Ga. 4/7/1891

George W Channell - Enlisted 5/6/1862, KIA 11/29/1863 at
Knoxville, Shot through lung and fractured radius, Born
12/30/1843 to John and Elizabeth Greer Channell, Brother of
Henry and Thomas Channell

Henry M Channell - Enlisted 5/6/1862, Last shown sick at
Charlottesville hospital on February 1863 roll, No further
record, Lt Marcus Green diary entry for 5/2/1863 at
Chancellorsville mentions what appears to be a Herin Cammel as
wounded. (letter is faded and handwriting is poor) Since Henry
Channel is the only name in the company close to Herin Cammel
it is possible that he may have been wounded at
Chancellorsville and died from the effects of his wound. Born
8/6/1840 to John and Elizabeth Greer Channell, Brother of
George and Thomas Channell

Thomas J Channell - Enlisted 5/6/1862, AWOL 1/15/1864 until
7/1/1864, Deserted 2/20/1865 near Petersburg, Sent to
Washington DC 2/22/1865, No further record but we know he
survived the war since he applied for a pension in 1897,
Application states that he was captured near Richmond in
February 1865 and held at Washington for the rest of the war,
Born 8/6/1840 in Cobb County to John and Elizabeth Greer
Channell, Brother of George and Henry Channell, Buried at Greer
Cemetery in Cobb County

Emsley J Childers - Enlisted 5/6/1862, KIA at Fox's Gap, Md
9/14/1862, Age 14 in 1850 Cass County census, Son of Martin and
Elizabeth Childers, Brother of Lewis Childers

Lewis G Childers - Enlisted 5/6/1862, WIA 12/13/1862 at
Fredericksburg, Captured 4/6/1865 at Sailors Creek and
imprisoned at Point Lookout until released 6/26/1865, Oath
shows him to be 5'7&1/4" with auburn hair and blue eyes, Age 12
in 1850 Cass County census, Son of Martin and Elizabeth
Childers, Brother of Emsley Childers

Thompson Colbert - Enlisted 5/6/1862, Shown absent sick on all
rolls through 1/30/1865, No further military record but Ga
pension application states that he left his unit due to illness
in November 1862 and never returned, Born 12/16/1828 in Hancock
County, Died in 1906, Buried at Greenwood Cemetery, Cedartown,
Polk County Ga, Age 21 in 1850 Cass County census

William R Conger - Enlisted 5/6/1862, Captured 4/6/1865 at
Sailors Creek and imprisoned at Point Lookout until released
6/26/1865, Oath shows him to be 5'7" with light brown hair and
blue eyes, Born in Ga 1837

Zachariah M Conger - Enlisted 5/6/1862, Captured 10/19/1865 at
Cedar Creek and imprisoned at Point Lookout until exchanged
3/17/1865, No further military record but Ga pension
application states he was home on furlough at the end of the
war, Born 1/16/1830

William Rufus Culver - Enlisted 5/6/1862, Captured at Jackson
hospital Richmond 4/3/1865, Died 5/3/1865 at Jackson hospital
Richmond of chronic dysentery, Buried at Hollywood Cemetery
Richmond grave #95, Age 9 in 1850 Cass County census, Son of
Gabriel and Lavinia Culver

Andrew J Davis - Enlisted 5/6/1862, WIA (compound fracture of
humerus) and captured 9/14/1862 at Fox's Gap, Md, Exchanged
10/17/1862, Disabled at home remainder of war, Roll dated
1/30/1865 shows him sick at hospital, No further record

James C Dunton - Enlisted 5/6/1862, Shown "absent sick" on
rolls dated 11/30/1862 and February 1863, A roll dated
1/19/1864 shows on detached service at Atlanta, A roll dated
10/5/1864 indicates he is at a Richmond hospital with
heart/lung disease, Last shown at Richmond barracks 3/3/1865,
1906 Roster Commission roll lists him as J C Denton and states
that he "died in hospital" and he can't be found  in postwar
census records so it is possible that he died in Richmond in
March or April of 1865, 21 in 1860 Cobb County census

George Perryman Earp - Enlisted 5/6/1862, Designated to
transfer to 3rd Ga Sharpshooter Battalion in May 1863 but all
muster roll entries for him in that unit state "absent sick" or
"absent in Phillips Legion", AWOL 9/19/1863 (when Legion passed
through Cobb County on their way north to Ringgold) through
roll dated 10/5/1864, "Present" on roll dated 1/30/1865,
Appomattox surrender record for G P Carp is very likely for him
since there was no one named Carp in the Legion, Postwar
pension application indicates he was born in NC in 1827, Died
12/10/1910

Grey Earp - Enlisted 5/6/1862, Died 6/18/1864 at Howards Grove
hospital in Richmond of measles, Buried at Oakwood Confederate
Cemetery Richmond as G Eppes

Allen C Edwards - Enlisted 5/6/1862, Shown "absent sick
furlough on all rolls through 1/19/1864, "Present on roll dated
10/5/1864, Captured 4/6/1865 at Sailors Creek and imprisoned at
Point Lookout until released 6/11/1865, Oath shows him to be
5'7" with dark brown hair and blue eyes

Reuben J Edwards - Enlisted 9/22/1863, Died 10/19/1863 of
dysentery near Chattanooga (per Lt Marcus Green's diary)

William J Eubanks - Enlisted 5/6/1862 as 3rd Sgt, Detached as
an aide to General W T Wofford in late 1864, Returned to
Georgia with General Wofford in January 1865 and surrendered at
Kingston, Ga in May 1865, Born 5/30/1834 in Lumpkin County Ga,
Died 8/22/1907 in Cobb County Ga, Buried at New Salem Baptist
Church Cemetery

George Washington Fenn - Enlisted 5/6/1862, Transferred
7/1/1862 to Co C, Age 15 in 1850 Cass County census, Son of
Thomas A and Lydia Fenn

Samuel E Fields - Enlisted 5/6/1862, KIA at Fox's Gap, Md
9/14/1862

John T Finch - Enlisted 4/4/1863, AWOL 9/19/1863 (when Legion
passed through Cobb County on their way north to Ringgold),
Captured 10/6/1864 in Cobb County and imprisoned at Camp
Douglas in Chicago until released 6/17/1865, His Oath shows him
to be 5'10" with black hair and grey eyes

Elisha Free - Enlisted 4/15/1863, Furloughed 12/15/1863
suffering from debility, At Danville hospital with gun shot
wound to hand 6/4/1864 (probably wounded at Cold Harbor),
"Present" on roll dated 1/30/1865, No further record, Born 1845
in Habersham County to Elisha and Mary Crow Free

James Newton Green - Enlisted 5/6/1862, KIA 8/30/1862 at Second
Manassas, Uncle of Lt M L Green, Death claim filed by mother
Elizabeth Green

Marcus Lafayette Greene - Enlisted 5/6/1862, Promoted 3rd Lt
10/16/1862, Promoted 2nd Lt 4/25/1863, Furloughed home
3/28/1864, Sent resignation letter to 1st Lt T Bowie in late
April but Bowie was KIA at Wilderness 5/6/1864 before he turned
the letter in, This resulted in Green's being declared AWOL,
Dropped from company roll 12/6/1864, Green joined the Cavalry
in Georgia, served out the war in Ga and was on detached
service at Macon at war's end, Nephew of James N Green, Born
5/24/1841, Died 12/17/1914

Newton T Hayes - Enlisted for 12 months as a Private 1st
Confederate Infantry, Discharged in March 1862, Reenlisted
5/6/1862 in Legion, Transferred to 18th Ga Infantry between
March and August 1863, Captured 6/1/1864 at Cold Harbor and
held at Elmira, NY until released 7/11/1865

Charles Pinckney Henderson - Enlisted 5/6/1862, WIA(right leg)
9/14/1862 at Fox's Gap, Md., Subsequent rolls show him "absent
on wounded furlough" then "absent sick" through 1/30/1865, No
further military record but Alabama pension application (from
Winston County) tells us that he survived the war, Born in SC
2/14/1840 to Sterling and Anna Brenks Henderson, Married
Eugenia Rice at Powder Springs, Ga 10/5/1865, Moved to Winston
County Alabama in 1880, Died 4/10/1924 at Leoma Tn and buried
there

John F Henderson - Enlisted 5/6/1862, Died 3/13/1863 at
Richmond GH#9 from chronic dysentery, Buried at Richmond's
Oakwood Confederate Cemetery as J S Henderson

John M Henderson - Enlisted 9/20/1862, Transferred to 3rd Ga
Sharpshooter Battalion in May 1863, WIA(shoulder) during May
1864, Furloughed home then captured in Cobb County in August
1864, Took Oath of Allegiance and sent north of the Ohio River,
No further military  record but Alabama pension application
(from Calhoun County) tells us that he survived the war,
Application states he was wounded through both shoulders at the
"battle of the horseshoe" (thus indicating Spotsylvania) in May
1864, Age 59 in 1900

William H Henderson - Enlisted 9/20/1862, Transferred to Co F
22nd Ga Infantry in early 1863, Sept/Oct 1864 roll states that
he died 10/18/1864 at Richmond's Jackson hospital from wounds
received 10/8/1864

Willis H Henderson - Enlisted 5/6/1862, WIA (leg) between
5/6/1864 and 5/16/1864 per casualty list in 7/2/1864 Richmond
Enquirer, Surrendered 4/9/1865 at Appomattox

mother or widow Martha Hill, Highly probable that he was a
March conscript or enlistee who died before ever being recorded

Oath shows him to be 5'9" with light hair and blue eyes, Born

Martin Van Buren Mize - Enlisted 5/6/1862, "Present" on rolls
throughout war until roll dated 1/30/1865 shows him "absent on
furlough", No further military record but postwar pension
application states that he was unable to return to Virginia at
the conclusion of his furlough due to Federal troops in the
Carolinas so he joined General Wofford's Ga State troops

Robert Moore - Enlisted 5/6/1862, WIA (hip) & captured
9/14/1862 at Fox's Gap, Md., Exchanged 10/17/1862, WIA ((hand)
between 5/6/1864 and 5/16/1864 per casualty list in 7/2/1864
Richmond Enquirer, Captured 4/6/1865 at Sailors Creek and
imprisoned at Point Lookout until released 6/29/1865, Oath
shows him to be 5'6" with dark brown hair and hazel eyes, Born
1840 in Henry County, Ga to John and Hannah Ewing Moore, Died
