All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm *********************** This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Marilyn Houser mahouser706@comcast.net INDIAN WARS WIDOW'S DECLARATION FOR PENSION State of Georgia, County of Walker, On this 13 day of Sept A.D., one thousand eight hundred and ninety 2 personaily appeared before me M G Clement of the County and State for said a COURT OF RECORDS within and for the Couny and State aforseal Mrs. Cynithia Tate age 75 years, who being duly swarn according to law, make the following declaration in order to obtain the pension provided by Act og Congress approved July 28th , 1892, granting pension to widows of Indian Wars: That she is the widow of Isaac Tate who enlisted under the name of Isaac Tate on the _____ day of Feb 1838, in Capt. B. Gideon's Co., Col________ Regt, of ______Indian war known as Cherokee Removel from where N. Georgia and Alabama and was honorably discharged at think her town Cass Co Ga on the__day June, 1838 and who drew a Land Warrant No._____ on The__day of____18__, that the said Isaac Tate died at Gordon Co Georgia on the 26 day of Jan 1884. That she was married under the name of Miss Cynithia Hendrix to Isaac Tate on the ___day of Sept , A.D., 1844, by Even Person , at Cass County, Georgia, there being no legal barrier to such marriage; that she has NOT been previously married but Isaac Tate had , that his wife died on __ day of__1841 That she has to present date remained a widow; that the following are the names and dates of birth of all his legitimate children, yet suviving, who surviving, who are now under sixteen years of age. No Children clamied on. That she has not herefore made application for Pension; that she hereby appoints, with full power of subatitution and revocation, A.W. Ballew, of Rome, Georgia, her attoney to prosecute this claim, that her residence in N. Walker County, Georgia, and her postoffice is Cedar Grove, Georgia. Cynithia X Tate (her mark) Jepth. T. Gideon's Co Ga Vols Cherokee Removel. Personally came before me, A Notary Public in and for the aforesaid County and State A. Tate A citizen of Georgia whose Postoffice is Pocket, Gordon Co Ga well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declares in relation to the aforefaid case as follows: That I am the youngest child of Isaac Tate and Cynthia Tate, the claimant, being 35 years of age . That the records of Cass Co, Ga . _____ which were the records of parents in marriage were destroyed during the War of the Rebelion and I know that my mother cannot furnish records of marriage. That my father and mother had eight children, four of them are still living, Willis, Wilkins, Sophia and myself. That I was present at the death and burial of my father. He was ___at Plasant Grove Church and in Gordon Co Ga on Jan 21th or 22th , 1884. That I know that my mother has not remarried sence my father death. That I have met some of my half brothers and sisters and one of them lives near my house. That there has never been any douth of the validity of my fathers second marriage. He left a will providing for my mother. He futher declares that he has no interest, direct or indirect, in the prosecution of this claim. A. Tate, first marriage. That my mother died when I was a child. That about ......years after my mother death, my father again married ...Cynthia Hendrix, now the claimant. That after my father second marriage, I lived with him and my step-mother until I came of age. That I know that my father's second marriage was legal, and that he provited for my step-mother by will after his marriage. That my father had seven children by first marriage and eight by second marriage. That my father died in Gordon Co Ga. Jan 20th 1884, and was buried at Mount Pleasant Church in Gordon Co . That I know that my step-mother, the claimant has not remarried sences my father death. He futher declares that has no interest, direct or indirect, in theprosecution of this claim. J.I.
