Treasury Department, Third Auditor's Office, February 26,
1851.

It states: It appears from documents on file in this Office,
that John Brown, a Private of Captain Crowell's Company of
Georgia Militia, entered the service on the 2nd October,
1812, 6 mo. and served till the 22nd April, 1813.

NOTE: my John Brown was in AL by 1840 and in Barbour Co.
1850. I assume he was given a land grant for his service. By
1860 he was in Dale Co., AL. He was b. abt 1795 in NC and his
wife Elizabeth was b. abt 1813 in SC. He would have been
about 17 or 18 when he served in the GA Milita.
