Shock and grief enveloped Miller County last week when news was received here that Ronnie Sheffield, 34, had died Friday, October 1, 1976, in Terra Alta, West Virginia, from fatal injuries sustained in an automobile accident about three weeks ago. Ronnie, son of Crawford Sheffield and the late Mrs. Ethel Gilbert Sheffield, of Colquitt, was born September 13, 1942, in Miller County. He was a member of Colquitt Free Will Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Miller County High School. Ronnie was friendly, kind, courteous, honest, considerate, and unselfish. Funeral services were held from Colquitt Free Will Baptist Church Sunday afternoon, October 3, 1976, with the Rev. Hollis Warren, pastor, and the Rev. Andy Lanier, pastor of Colquitt First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment was in Colquitt City Cemetery with Colquitt Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pall bearers were Wayne and Gilbert DuBose, Lamar and Tyner Cooper, Frazier Lindsey, and Buren Mock. Survivors include his father, Crawford Sheffield, Colquitt; three brothers, Glen Sheffield, Colquitt; Charlie C. Sheffield, Augusta, and Lavon Sheffield, Atlanta; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Barnhill, Brunswick. The bereaved family has the sympathy of all who know them in the tragic and untimely passing of their loved one.
