He was born in Miller County on August 13, 1914, and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Shepard. He was a member of Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church in Miller County and was a retired state highway department employee. Funeral services for Mr. Shepard was held Friday, May 6, at 3:00 P.M. at Colquitt Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Roy Harrison officiating. Interment was in Shepard Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wes Vann, Mitch Vann, Todd Middleton, Chuckie Middleton, Craig Shepard and Chris Shepard. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Essie Shepard, Colquitt; three sons, James C. Shepard, Jr., Valdosta; Jimmy Shepard, Colquitt, and Billy E. Shepard, Warner Robbins; two daughters, Juanita S. Middleton, Opelika, Ala., and Patricia S. Vann, Albany, four brothers, J. O. Shepard, Colquitt, Stanley Shepard, Leary, Calvin Shepard, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Steve Shepard, Starksville, Mississippi; three sisters, Marie Kimbrel, Albany, Maude Dobson, Johnston, Tennessee, and Elizabeth Stewart, Thomaston; one stepson, Donald Whitaker, Albany, and one stepdaughter, Josephine Allen, Colquitt.
