He was born in Miller County on September 28, 1921, and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Shepard. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was engaged in the timber pulpwood business. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Shepard was a member of the V. F. W., American Legion, Miller County, Shrine Club, Hasan Temple and Walter C. Dancer Lodge # 115. Funeral service for Mr. Shepard was held on Sunday, August 14, at 3:00 p. m. at First Baptist Church with Reverend Rudy Woods and Reverend James Kenney officiating. Interment was in City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jimmy Shepard, James Shepard, Steve Shepard, Jr., Dr. Jess Hester, Richard Spancake, Jr. and Ronnie Rentz. Survivors include his wife, Jessie Anne Shepard, Colquitt; two sons, Danny Shepard, Colquitt, and Michael Shepard, Americus; three brothers, Stanley Shepard, Leary, Calvin Shepard, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Steve Shepard, Starkesville, Mississippi; three sisters, Marie Kimbrell, Albany, Maude Dobson, Johnson City, Tennessee, and Elizabeth Stewart, Swainsboro; and three grandchildren.
