A native of Miller County, Mr. Davis was born June 4, 1904, the son of the late Alfred Iverson and Leila Cooper Davis. He had made his home in Arden since moving from West Palm Beach 23 years ago. Mr. Davis was a farmer, worked in the oil fields of Texas and Oklahoma, and was a postal worker in Miami. He was a retired master sergeant and drill instructor in the U.S. Army having served in WWII. He was a retired engineer with the City of West Palm Beach, and was a member of the First Baptist Church there. Funeral services were held on April 6 in the James A. Bennett Funeral Home with the Rev. James A. Bennett officiating. Interment followed in Port Mayaca Memorial Park. Survivors include two sons, H. Richard Davis , of Norwalk, CT, and H. Stanley Davis, of Arden, NC; one daughter, Debbie Davis of West Palm Beach, FL; two brothers, Tom Davis of West Palm Beach, FL, and Joe Davis of Leesburg and eight grandchildren. James A. Bennett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
