The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Damascus Missionary Baptist Church with interment in Cross Roads Cemetery in Early County. The Rev. Buren Womble and the Rev. Harold Pullen will officiate. The pallbearers will be Billy J. Lewis, Paul Brunson, Johnny Phillips, Carey Moye, Liston Radney and Perry Daniels. A native of Arkansas, Mr. Rogers was a retired salesman. He was a veteran of World War II where he was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and other military medals. He was a member of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Flora A. Rogers of Damascus; three daughters, Mavis Campbell of Columbus, Bobbye Glass of Colquitt and Cheryl Mathis of Apalachicola, Fla.; three sons, William D. Wood of Lake City, Fla., Harold T. Wood of Victoria, Texas, and Freddie A. Rogers of Damascus; one son-in-law, George Mathis of Apalachicola Fla.; two daughters-in-law, Eleanor Wood of Lake City, Fla., and Maxine Wood of Victoria, Texas; sister, Lillian Dansby of Royce City, Texas; 24 grandchildren; a large number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 7 p.m.-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
