A graveside funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Colquitt City Cemetery. The Rev. Floyd Mitchell will officiate. Born on March 21, 1908 in Miller County, Mrs. Beard was a homemaker and musician. She was a member of Colquitt United Methodist Church where she was a pianist and secretary. In her senior years she was a member of the Cappie chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star where she was the organist, and was an avid grower of flowers. She was also a member of the Colquitt Garden Club and the "DAR" Daughter of the American Revolution in Americus. Survivors include a son, Dr. Charles W. Beard of Athens; a daughter, JoeAnne Moore of Americus; and nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Roy W. Beard and a son, Roy J. Beard, who died in 1986.
