Davis Miller County Liberal September 11, 1980 Mr. Dennis A. Davis, 78, died suddenly Thursday, September 4, 1980 at his home on Route 5. Mr. Davis was born July 30, 1902, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Davis. He was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church and was a progressive farmer until his retirement. Funeral service was held at Flat Creek Church with Rev. James Miller and Rev. Buren Womble officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers were Jerry Mock, Jerry Bush, Steve Holt, Roger Lane, Billy Joe Newberry, Thomas Earl Davis and Jerry Pickren. Honorary pallbearers were Curtis Dunning, Stanley Tyner, Ralph Dykes, Doug Worsley, Roy Bush, Olton Cofty, Buren Womble, Hunter Davis, Melvin Thomas and Charlie Womble. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mildred B. Davis; one son, Dr. Edsel Davis, Macon; a daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Grimsley, Colquitt and four grandchildren; and three brothers, J. Vernon Davis and Denver L. Davis of Colquitt, and Buren Davis of Americus. Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
