Mrs. Dunaway was a native of Miller County and a member of the Hawkinsville First Baptist Church. She was a retired public school teacher and a former member and president of the Taylor Regional Hospital Pink Ladies. Visitation was held on January 11, in the Clark Funeral Home in Hawkinsville. Funeral services were held on January 12, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hawkinsville First Baptist Church. Interment followed in the Harmony-Smyrna Cemetery in Dooly County. Pallbearers were Joe Wayne Johnson, Joey Sheffield, Herman Sheffield, Alton Sheffield, Larry Dunaway, Felt Sheffield and Sonny Dunaway. Survivors include; two daughters- Kay Dunaway Dowdey of Wilmington, NC and Rene Dunaway Dowdey of Fayetteville; four grandchildren, Shannon Dowdey Conner of Raleigh, NC, Captain Trey Dowdey of Darmsdt, Germany, Candice McLeod and Victoria Leigh Buchanan, both of Fayetteville; one great-grandchild, Caroline Elizabeth Conner of Raleigh, NC. Clark Funeral Home in Hawkinsville was in charge of arrangements. (Mrs. Dunaway was a daughter of the late James Alvis Sheffield and Alice Alma Houston Sheffield of Miller County. Victoria was a graduate of Miller County High School where she was one of the star basketball players.)
