B. Gilbert Passes December 14 Funeral services were held at Union Baptist Church in Miller County Saturday afternoon for Mrs. J. B. Gilbert, 83, who died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Crawford Sheffield. The Rev. Ralph Graves and the Rev. Martin Gilbert officiated, and interment was in the church cemetery with Colquitt Funeral Home in charge. Pall bearers were grandsons and included Lamar and Harold Cooper, Lavon and Glen Sheffield, Charles and Wayne DuBose. Mrs. Gilbert, the former Alice Loyless, was a native of Miller County. She had resided with her children since the death of Mr. Gilbert in 1947, making her home with Mrs. Crawford Sheffield for several years. She was a member of Salem Freewill Baptist Church in Miller County. She was a faithful wife, devoted mother and a loyal Christian expressing her faith in Christ wherever she went. Her home going will leave a vacancy in the family circle but their loss is Heaven's gain. Survivors include four sons, J. A. Odom of Dade City, Fla., R. W. Odom, Arcadia, Fla., C. H. Odom, New York City, and Willie Gilbert, Arcadia, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. Crawford Sheffield and Mrs. W. T. Cooper, Colquitt, and Mrs. Buford DuBose of Lucile Community of Miller County; 23 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. The family has the sympathy of many friends in their sorrow and grief.
