"While working in a penitentiary near Dublin, Ike Spradley, a negro, who was sentenced
for 3 years from this place for being implicated in shooting a negro by the name of 
Rosenboro, was killed about a week ago by a falling tree. Ike Spradley had the name of 
being an industrious negro; and many of the best citizens here expressed sympathy for 
him in his trouble. He left here assuring his wife and his friends that he would give 
the keepers of the penitentiary no trouble."
