The funeral was held Saturday, January 17, 2004, at Colquitt First Baptist Church with interment in Flat Creek Cemetery. The Rev. Don Bazal, the Rev. James Miller and the Rev. Buren Womble officiated. Active pallbearers were Matt Harper, Jason Lockart, Eddie George, Herman George, Bud Mock and Thomas Earl Davis. Born February 11, 1919, to Alvis Clifton "Little Ding" and China Bush, Iris Pearl was a lifelong resident of Miller County. She was valedictorian of the Miller County High School Class 1936. She was employed for more than 40 years with Wilkin's Department Store of Colquitt. She was also an active partner in Sheffield Farms until her retirement in 1997. Iris Pearl "Suzanne" was an active member of Colquitt First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class, the Keenagers, and a former member of the Jolly Elders Choir. She was an avid bridge player and a member of the Donalsonville Senior Citizens Bridge Club. She enjoyed all types of sports, especially the Atlanta Braves. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, Joe Sterling Sheffield; five brothers, Cliff Bush, Joe Petti Bush, Alie Bush, Jim Bush, Douglas Bush; and three sisters, Christine Bush, Myrl Dupree and Charlie Rowe. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jo and Roger Wayne Davis of Blakely; two granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Jodi and Matt Harper of Blakely, Jacki and Jason Lockart of Bainbridge; three great-grandchildren, Collier Sheffield Harper and Caroline Sterling Harper of Blakely, Anna Lee Lockart of Bainbridge; several nieces and nephews; and a special care taker, Freddie Mae Freeman of Blakely.
