Mrs. Mulkey was born July 27, 1903, in Calhoun County, Florida. She has lived in Fitzgerald for the past 25 years and lived in Colquitt for a number of years before moving to Fitzgerald. She was a former grader at Fudge Milling Co. in Colquitt and practical nurse at the Miller County Hospital. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Fitzgerald, and a former member of First Baptist Church in Colquitt. She was a former Sunday School teacher at Salem Baptist Church in Miller County. Mrs. Mulkey was preceded in Death by her husband Lee Preston Mulkey 49 years ago on the same day that she died. She was the last of 11 children of the late Rev. Eugene A.D. and Nannie Leona Hays Sheffield. A funeral service was held Thursday, December 27, 2001, at Colquitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Walter Daniels officiating. Interment followed in Colquitt City Cemetery. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law; the Rev. Jimmy and Kay Mulkey of Sylvania, Rosby L. and Joyce Mulkey of Fitzgerald, Lowell and Glenda Mulkey of Abbeville, and one daughter and son in law; Veda M. and E.R. "Rudy" Rigsby of Camilla; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
