David W. Devore died at his residence in Milton county, Ga., April 16th, 1887. 
He was born in Edgefield district, S. C., February 27th, 1807, and moved to 
Cherokee, now Milton county, in the fall of 1852, where he has lived a faithful 
citizen, unrivaled neighbor, unexcelled father and husband; and for over a half 
century a devoted christian; thus he was ready, having been washed in the blood 
of Jesus, and having discharged his duty to earthly claims, his only regret 
being to leave his many friends, beloved children, and devoted wife, Lucinda, 
the idol of his heart. But our loss is his great gain. It seems hard to give him 
up, and we know we can not bring him back, but by the same grace that saved him 
we can go to him.                         Son
