James Spence, treasurer of Milton county, hanged himself at his home last 
Friday, 
from the effects of which he died soon afterward.  He was partially insane at 
the 
time, caused from anxiety for his sons' behavior, and a shortage of $60 in his 
accounts as treasurer of the county.  He was a christian gentleman of unsullied 
character.  His end is greatly lamented.

Jas. Spence, treasurer of Milton county who was reported as having suicided 
last week, we are pleased to learn is not dead.
