The Cherokee Advance (Canton, Ga.)   Friday 31 Dec 1886 p 3
We received an invitation to attend the marriage of Miss Maud Edgar Howell to 
Mr. Jefferson P. Brooke, which occurred at the Alpharetta Methodist church 
wednesday (sic) evening, Dec. 29th, 1886, and regret we could not attend.  The 
groom's parents gave the bridal party an elegant reception at their home in 
Canton on Thursday.  Mr. Brooke is a son of (sic-of) G. w. (sic) Brooks (sic), 
Esq., of this place, and is quite a worthy and talented young man and 
promising lawyer, who has built up a good practice in Milton county.  His 
bride is one of Milton's sweetest and most amiable young ladies, beloved by 
all who know her, and belongs to one of the best families of that county.  we 
(sic) waft our best wishes to the happy couple, and wish them a long life of 
unalloyed happiness and prosperity.
