Pelham, Ga. - From U.S. 19, take Harmony Rd. (East) for 3.6 miles to Mitchell Rd. Turn right on Mitchell Rd. and go for approximately 2 miles to Big Creek Rd. Just as you pass Big Creek Rd. you will see a cow pasture on the right hand side, in the pasture is a small fenced in cemetery (located in a small stand of trees). Possibly the oldest cemetery in Mitchell County. James L. Piland, Jr, did this survey on 17 January 2002. Any personal remarks are enclosed in ( ). (There is a small broken sign that is nailed to a post that says “ AY’S “ and beneath that partial word is “TER”. The rest is broken off but it seemed to say (some name) Cemetery. No one knows whose cemetery it was. The people that own the land now say it is “Roland Cemetery”, but that did not coincide with what was written on the sign.)
