Mrs. Margaret Davis, widow of the late Berrien C. Davis, aged and generally beloved Mitchell county woman passed away Sunday, 15 Dec 1929, morning at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. C. L. Fussell, near Moultrie, after an illness of several days. Funeral services took place Monday, 16 Dec 1929, at 3:00 PM at Hopeful church, where a large number of relatives and friends of the deceased had gathered. The service was conducted by Elder M. T. Sheppard. Mrs. Davis had passed her seventy-eight birthday when her long and worthy life came to a close. She was Miss Margaret Crosson before her marriage to Berrien C. Davis and lived practically her entire life in Hopeful community, where she was reared. About eleven years ago her husband preceded her to the grave and since that time she has been living with her children. Mrs. Davis was a good woman, gentile, kind and unselfish, giving her life devotedly to rearing her large family of children, with all the love and sacrifice of the true mother, yet finding time to minister generously to the needs of neighbors, friends and the community. Mrs. Davis was loved tenderly by a large number of friends, to whom her going has caused a feeling of deep sadness. Surviving Mrs. Davis are her four sons, J. W. and T. B. Davis of Hopeful community; T. J. Davis of Hartsfield and B. C. Davis of Doerun; and two daughters, Mrs. T. J. Dodson of Faceville and Mrs. Joe Darsey of Calvary. She leaves also one brother, J. B. Crosson of Hopeful and one sister, Mrs. Sara Jan Porter of Pelham. Mrs. C. A. Kolbie of this city is a niece of Mrs. Davis. The bereaved family has the sympathy of many relatives and friends throughout the county in their loss.
