Camilla, Georgia. Mrs. Lizzie Luckey Shiver, well known and beloved Mitchell county lady, died Saturday afternoon at six-thirty o'clock at her home on the old Newton road after a long illness of some three or four months. Funeral services took place from the home Sunday afternoon at three o'clock, attended by a large group of sorrowing friends and relatives of the deceased. Rev. S. O. Thomas conducted the services. Interment was in Oakview cemetery. !Acting as pallbearers were six grandsons of Mrs. Shiver, Messrs. Stanley Shiver, Grayson Shiver, Julian Daniels, Lamar Daniels, Emmett Daniels and Oscar Megahee. J. R. Bramlett was in charge. Mrs Shiver had passed her seventy-first birthday July 26. She was born and reared in this county and spent her entire life here. She was the former Miss Lizzie Luckey. She was united in marriage to the late Loyd Shiver, prominent Mitchell Countian, who preceded her in death many years ago. Mrs. Shiver was a good Christian woman. Her life was quietly spent, filled with simple goodness, enduring kindness, patience and good deeds. Her loyalty to ideals and simple Christian faith never changed through the long years. She had been a member of the Baptist church since early in life and enjoyed attending services as long as she was physically able. Many friends loved this good woman and her death has caused sorrow and regret. Surviving the deceased are five sons, Jesse C. Shiver, Camilla; Perry L. Shiver, Pelham; B. R. Shiver, Miami, Fla; W. Maurice Shiver, Camilla; and J. S. Shiver, Detroit, Mich, and four daughters, Mrs. Mattie Daniel, Thomasville; Mrs. J. F. Daniel and Mrs. Hiram Megahee, Moultrie, and Mrs. C. D. Meredith, Pelham. She leaves also sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Miss Winnie Lucky and Mrs. Lila Palmer are surviving sisters and Mr. Jonathan Lucky is a brother. The bereaved family has the warm sympathy of many friends in their sad loss.
