Mrs. Rosa Cochran Jones, aged and widely beloved woman, passed away peacefully at her home here Friday, 16 Mar 1934, afternoon just a few minutes before 3:00 PM after an illness extending over a period of many weeks due to the infirmities of old age. Her loved ones had known for several weeks that the end was near and every kindly and loving attention had been given her by her family and friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, 17 Mar 1934, afternoon at 3:00 PM in the First Baptist church, in the presence of a large assemblage of relatives and friends, the family and near relatives of the deceased filling the middle section of the church auditorium. Services were conducted by the pastor, Rev S. H. Bennett, who was assisted by Rev J. I. D. Miller and Rev I. P. Tyson. Comforting hymns of the Christian faith were sung by a mixed quartet. Numerous and lovely floral pieces attested to love and thoughtfulness of friends. A sketch of the life of Mrs. Jones was given by Rev Bennett, who rendered feeling tribute to her long and faithful life as a Christian. After the service at the church the body was carried to Oakview cemetery, where it was laid to rest in the family lot. The pallbearers were Dr. W. B. Cochran of Thomasville; R. S. Cochran, J. A. Cochran, Atwood Cochran, Roy Stripling, W. C. Adams, all nephews of the deceased. J. J. White of the Camilla Funeral Home was in charge. Mrs. Jones was in her eighty-third year when death called her. She was a member of one of the old pioneer families of southwest Georgia. She was the daughter of Robert and Patsy Cochran and was born in Baker County 17 Aug 1851. Most of her childhood was spent of the old family home place near Flint. She was one of a large family of ten brothers and sisters, all of whom have preceded her to the grave except one brother, Mr. G. B. Cochran of this city. She was married to John W. W. Jones and spent some of her early married life in Thomas County, moving back to flint, where she lived until after the death of her husband more than thirty years ago. About 25 years ago she moved to Camilla where she spent the remainder of her life at the home on North Scott Street. Mrs. Jones was brought up in a Christian home and had accepted the faith herself in childhood, her strength of faith growing into a beautiful Christian experience through the long years of her life. She was a lifelong member of the Baptist church and she loved the church with a fervent and never failing love. Most of her life experiences were worked out in the home, where as wife and mother of a large family of children she was the living example of the good woman, whose price is above rubies. Her outstanding characteristics were her simple faith in God, her sturdy and tireless energy and her refreshing sense of humor. She was a good neighbor, most kind and solicitous of the sick and the weather never grew to hot or to cold for her friendly little visits, when her sick friends grew to look for her cheery smile and gay banter. Even when she lingered in the shadow of death she carried that same cheery smile with her, giving evidence of a brave, true heart. Mrs. Jones is survived by the following children, Mrs. W. P. White of Meigs; B. H. Jones of Albany; Albert Jones of Camilla; Austin Jones of Atlanta; Mrs. J. J. White and John C. Jones of Camilla. She leaves also twenty-five grandchildren and twenty- eight great grandchildren, and one brother, Mr. G., B. Cochran. Mrs. George C. Cochran and Mrs. R. T. Cochran of this city, are sisters-in-law and Mrs. Belle H. Jones of Fort Meyers, Fla, is a daughter-in-law. These together with a large number of other near relatives and a host of friends mourn her death. Among the friends and relatives attending the funeral here from a distance were Dr. W. B. Cochran of Thomasville; Mrs. George Huber, Miss Alma Huber, Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Jones of Moultrie; Mr. and Mrs. Elwood White of Blakely; Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Willingham of Forsyth; Mrs. Everett Luke, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. White and family, Messrs. Watson and Beaure White, Mrs. W. P. White, Miss Lucile White of Meigs; Mrs. Raymond Holt, Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Jones and family of Albany; Mr. and Mrs. Austin Jones and daughter, Mary of Atlanta; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wilder and daughter of Sylvester; Mrs. W. M. Searcy, Mrs. Lee Dees of Cairo; Mrs. R. P.
