Mr. Wyatt Adams, one of Mitchell county's oldest and most respected citizens died Wednesday, 17 Feb 1932, at 12:30 PM at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lester Adams, in Pelham. The end came after an illness of only a few days and was quite a shock to hundreds of friends throughout the county. He was taken ill Sunday but his condition was not considered alarming until a day or two later when serious symptoms developed, which, coupled with the infirmities of age, made his fight a losing one and brought the end quickly. Funeral services were held at Mt. Zion Church, east of Camilla, Thursday, 18 Feb 1932, at 2:30 PM and were in charge of Rev W. T. Halstead, pastor of the Camilla Baptist Church, assisted by other ministers, old friends of the deceased. Mr. Adams was 80 years of age and had spent practically his entire life in this county. For many years he lived on his farm a few miles east of Camilla. After the death of his beloved wife a number of years ago he left his old home to live with his son, Mr. J. R. Adams, in Camilla, for a while and then going to live with his daughter in Pelham. Mr. Adams was an old fashioned Christian gentleman and though quiet and unassuming in manner he exerted a fine influence over all with whom he came in contact and his character and example was counted as an asset to the community and county in which he resided. He had been a member to the Baptist church for a long number of years and his life reflected the teachings of the Master in whom he had an unshakable faith. His passing brings sorrow to many friends who found in him the finest qualities of a plain citizen. The deceased is survived by three daughters and one sone, Mrs. Albert Ott and Mrs. Lester Adams of Pelham; Mrs. M. J. Sanders of Evergreen; and Mr. J. R. Adams of Camilla. The Enterprise joins a host of friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved family.
