Bringing sadness and regret to numerous friends throughout the county was the news of the death of Mrs. S.B. Luckey, aged and beloved woman and mother of Messrs. T.J. and A.L. Luckey which occurred at her home here on Tuesday at 5:00 PM. Mrs. Luckey had been in bad health for the past three months and had been confined to her bed for about three weeks. Funeral services took place Wednesday at 5:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. R.C. Brown, pastor of Pelham Baptist Church. Interment took place immediately following in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers were five grandsons; J.T. Watts, C.B. Luckey, A.L. Luckey Jr., O.L. Luckey, S.B. Luckey and John Collins. Mrs. Luckey was in her seventy-six year when death came to her. She was born in this county in August of 1866 and spent her entire life here. She was the former Eliza Griner, daughter of the late Jasper and Patricia Griner. She was married to S.B. Luckey of this county, who preceded her to the grave twenty-eight years ago. She had been a member of the Baptist Church since early in life and was an earnest Christian, a good woman and was beloved by many friends, who are saddened by her home going. Many friends join the family in mourning the death of this good woman. Mrs. Luckey is survived by eight children. They are Mrs. J.T. Watts of Mobile, Ala., Mrs. J.T. Lee of Popano,Fla., Mrs. J.M. Hudgins of Pelham, Ga., Miss Audrey Luckey of Atlanta, Ga., Messrs. T.J. and A.L. Luckey of Camilla, Ga., Euco Luckey of Pelham, Ga., and J.B. Luckey of Nashville, Tenn. She also leaves one brother, C.G. Griner and one sister, Mrs. T.W. Curles.
