Mrs. Georgia Pearlisom Hart, aged and beloved long time resident of Camilla, died at her home here Tuesday, 4 April 1944, after a long period of illness, the end coming quietly at 2:00 AM Tuesday. Numerous friends learned of her death with deep regret though her death was not unexpected. Her frail strength had barely held through recent months and loved ones had watched closely beside her bed, realizing that the end was near. She had been a complete invalid since the death of her husband three years ago. Mrs. Hart had almost reached her eightieth milestone in life. She was born 31 May 1863 during the War Between the States. She was Miss Georgia Shiver, daughter of John W. and Sarah Shiver, and was born at the home of her parents three miles west of Camilla. She spent her entire life in Mitchell County with the exception of 14 years, when she lived at Coolidge. She was married 16 April 1882 to Mr. Simon Hart with whom she lived for 59 years before he preceded her to the grave 23 Feb 1941. A large family of sons and daughters was born to this happy union and her gentle Christian influence and motherly love lived to bless and strengthen them through the long years she was spared to them. She had been a Christian since childhood and a loyal and consistent member of Camilla first Baptist Church and enjoyed services and fellowship of the church. Funeral services took place at the home Wednesday, 5 Apr 1944, at 3:00 PM, conducted by Rev S. H. Bennett and attended by a large concourse of sorrowing friends and neighbors. Beautiful flowers bespoke love and sympathy of friends for the bereaved family and hymns of Christian faith sung by a mixed quartet, were sweetly comforting. Pallbearers were Edgar Crosby, Julius Crosby, Cecil Thomas, J. O. Willis, Walter Jones and Bennett Pierce. Internment was in the family plot in Oakview Cemetery. Bramlett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs Hart is survived by five daughters, Miss Beatrice Hart, Mrs. Lena Crosby, Mrs. T. J. Luckey, all of Camilla, Mrs. W. B. Sloan of Pelham, Mrs. M. D. Murphy of Coolidge and two sons, Dewey Hart of Panama City, Fla., and Byron Hart of Camilla. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs, D. M. Baker of Coolidge. She leaves 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
