Jarvis Cook as written in "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 5 Sep 1947. Coming as a sad shock to relatives and a host of friends was the death of Mrs. R. T. Cook, beloved matron of Pinecliff community, which occurred at her home Saturday, 30 Aug 1947, at 5:00 AM. Though Mrs. Cook had been in ill health for several years her death was sudden and unexpected. Funeral services took place Sunday, 31 Aug 1947, at 4:00 PM at the home, conducted by the Rev N. D. Freeman, pastor of Pine Cliff Baptist church, of which she was a member. Interment was in Oakview Cemetery. Grandsons serving as pallbearers were Neal shiver, Claude Shiver, Lenwood Shiver, Stanley Shiver, Thomas E. McCarty and Dick Cook. Mrs. Cook was 73 years of age when death came to her. She was a native of Miller County and was the former Miss Mattie Jarvis. She was married 17 August 1892 to R. T. Cook of this county and lived her entire married life in Mitchell County. On Sunday, 17 August, she and Mr. Cook celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. She was a devoted and active member of Pine Cliff Baptist church and attended services regularly. "Aunt Matt" as she was known was beloved by a large connection of relatives and numerous friends. Surviving are her husband, two sons, James Cook of Leary, and W. Walter Cook of Albany, and two daughters, Mrs. Troy Shiver and Mrs. Jesse Shiver; fifteen grandchildren, Miss Bernice Shiver, Stanley, Lynwood, Claud and Neal Shiver, Mrs. T. E. McCarty, Mrs. Albert Palmer, Nell and Weyman Cook, Dick, Margie, Helen, Betty Jean, and Bobby Cook; six great-grandchildren, Jerry Palmer, Lyrice Shiver, Claudia and Tommy McCarty, Norman Shiver and Annelle Cook.
