Friends learned with great sorrow of the death of Mrs. C. H. Daniel at her home near Pavo Sunday. She had been ill for only three days but owing to her long years was unable to withstand the effect of the illness with which she was stricken. Funeral services were held at Pavo with Elder D. O. Lewis officiating. Interment took place in Salem cemetery. Six grandsons acted as active pallbearers and seven sons as honorary pallbearers. Mrs. Daniell was born March 24, 1861, in Brooks county, having recently celebrated her eighty-fifth birthday. She was a daughter of Osborne and Polly Ann Baker, her maiden name being Mary. Her marriage took place in Thomas county on the first Sunday in September, 1878. Her husband died August 10, 1936, and is buried at Salem. Mrs. Daniell is survived by one brother, 33 nephews and nieces, seven sons, two daughters, 49 grandchildren, 96 great-grandchildren and 7 great, great-grandchildren. Many of the wide and prominent family connection were present at the last rites and the whole community mourned the passing of this estimable and wonderfully strong character.
