Camilla, Georgia. Ben R. Shiver, 59, former Camilla Citizen, died suddenly in Miami last Thursday from a heart attack, while fishing in the St. John's River. Mr. Shiver was a native of Camilla but moved to Miami in 1920 and served with the City Police and Fire Departments for 25 years, retiring in 1949. He was appointed to the Post of District Supervisor for the State Beverage Department in 1954 and served there until recently. Funeral Services were held Monday afternoon in Miami and interment was at Woodlawn Park. Mr. Shiver is survived by his wife, Nina, who lives at 91 Northeast 19th Street, Miami, and a daughter, Mrs. A. J. Greene of Jacksonville, Florida; 4 sisters, Mrs. Lee Daniels, Thomasville, Mrs. Ruby Wilson, Jacksonville, Fla, Mrs. Ludie Daniels of Port St. Joe, Florida, Mrs. Harry McGahee Moultrie, Ga., and 4 brothers: Johnny Shiver, Jessie Shiver, Morris Shiver, all of Camilla and Perry Shiver of Pelham. Mr. Shiver was a veteran of WWI and a past commander of the William McAllister Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Miami, a past State Commander of the VFW, a Mason and Shriner, and a past commander of the Shriner's Legion of Honor. He was also a member of the Floriday Mango Forum, the Sportsman's Club of Dade County, and the retired City Employees Association. The Masons had charge of services at the grave side and the VFW gave a 3 round salute. All four brothers from Mitchell County attended the funeral services and Mrs. Lee Daniels of Thomasville.
