Little six year old Barbara Sue Brooks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Brooks, who reside near Camilla, was killed instantly Sunday, 3 Jun 1951, afternoon in a fall from the back end of a truck where she and others were seated in chairs. Her chair toppled over and she fell directly beneath the wheels. Funeral services took place Tuesday, 5 Jun 1951, afternoon at 3:00 PM at Mt. Zion church with the pastor, Rev William Carter, of Pelham, officiating. Interment was in the family plot in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Bennie Merritt Jr., Grady Martin, Leon Curles, Jim Curles Jr. The little girl was born 24 Jun 1945, in Pelham. her mother is the former Miss Hazel Lovingood. Besides her grief-stricken parents she is survived by two brothers, Jimmy and Warren, nine years old, and Johnny, age three.
