Camilla, Georgia. Causing deep sorrow to numerous friends and a wide family connection throughout the county was the death of Mrs. Sam L. Palmer at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta Sunday, 27 May 1951, afternoon at the age of 59. Mrs. Palmer had been in ill health for some time but was able to go about her daily routing. She recently suffered a vocal stroke that took her voice away and she entered Mitchell County Hospital for treatment. As her condition grew worse she was moved to Atlanta for further diagnosis and treatment but death came after she had been there four days. Mrs. Palmer was a native of Mitchell County, the former Miss Eloise Faircloth, daughter of Mrs. Allie Williams Faircloth and the late Elias Faircloth. Survivors include her husband Sam L. Palmer; two daughters, Mrs. Tom Collins of Camilla and Mrs. Bob Simus of Sacramento, Cal., four sons, Faircloth Palmer of Bainbridge, Elmo Palmer of Tallahassee, Fla., Loyd Palmer of Pavo and Waldo Palmer, a senior at the University of Georgia; her mother; four sisters, Mrs. A. T. Rigsby of Sale City, Mrs. Curtis Sheperd of Camilla, Mrs. W. H. Varner of Moultrie and Mrs. Bob Wright of Elberton; three brothers, Jack Faircloth of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Albert Faircloth of Camilla and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, 29 May 1951, afternoon at 3:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the pastor Rev Bill Carter of Pelham, Rev Charles Duncan, pastor of First Baptist Church in Camilla and Rev O. M. Cates of Sale City Church, joining in conducting the services. Active pall bearers were James Cash, Milward Faircloth, John Faircloth, Daniel Palmer, Roy Palmer, Harry Wright, Rudolph and Randolph Rigsby, Allen Eubanks, Lamar Gay, Bennie Merritt, Jr. and Leonard Eubanks. Bramlett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
