Camilla, Georgia. Fred Kennon Palmer died at the age of 40 in Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany, Monday night, 20 Feb 1956, following an extended illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday, 22 Feb 1956, at 3:30 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Camilla with Rev Charles Duncan officiating, assisted by the Rev P. J. Keadle and the Mt. Zion pastor. Pall bearers were J. L. Bettison, James Holton, Frank Palmer, C. M. Stripling, Lynwood Shiver, Bill Manry, Lewis Campbell and Morris Kolbie. Bramlett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements and interment was in the church cemetery. Mr. Palmer was connected for a while with the Camilla Fire Department and he also worked as a retail salesman at Smith Installment Company in Camilla. He was a member of Lake Pleasant Baptist church. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom H. Palmer of Camilla, two sisters, Mrs. A. L. Johnson of Camilla and Mrs. Stanley Shiver of Quitman; six brothers; Theodore, Euitt and Jack of Camilla, Zuber (Tony) of Cuthbert, Billy of Albany and Max of the U. S. Navy.
