Adams as written in "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 20 Jul 1951. After a long period of ill health, the last two years spent in bed, death came late Saturday, 14 Jul 1951, night to Hansel J. Adams, prominent Cotton Community resident who was active in church and community affair all of his life until his health failed. He spent almost his entire life in Cotton and at one time owned and operated a prosperous mercantile business there. He served a number of years on the Cotton School Board. Funeral services took place Monday, 16 Jul 1951, morning at the Harmony Baptist Church where he held membership a number of years and lead in activities of the church. Rev O. M. Cates conducted the services and interment was in the Pelham cemetery. Braswell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Honorary pall bearers were J. M. Hays, Charlie Ragan, J. L. Joiner, Roy Palmer, Carl Strickland, R. T. Cannon, John Taylor, E. J. Joiner, Drew C. White and Earl Taylor. Active pall bearers were Weyman Chason, Mercer, Winifred Chason, Thomas Chason, Mercer Chason, Herschel Joiner and Ross Ragan. Mr. Adams was seventy-nine years of age when death came. Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Minnie Chason, one son, W. D. Adams of Gainesville, Fla., four daughters, Miss Donita Adams, Mrs. Emory Jester of Bainbridge, Mrs. Doyle Rentz of Moultrie and Mrs. E. D. Bostick of Hopeful; one sister, Mrs. H. H. Sapp of Havana, Fla.; two brothers, John Adams of Pelham and Leon Adams of Ashford, Ala.
