Camilla, Georgia. Mrs. Kate Dennard Shirah, wife of Charles S. Shirah Sr., died early Wednesday, 30 Mar 1955, afternoon at Mitchell County Hospital after suffering a stroke earlier at her home in Pine Cliff community. Funeral services will be held this afternoon (Friday), 1 Apr 1955, at 3:00 PM at Hopeful Baptist Church with Rev W. A. Addison, of Bainbridge, officiating. Pall bearers will be Lamar Shirah, Jesse Lee, Emory Shirah, Floyd Taylor, Everett Taylor, and Pope Gray. Bramlett Funeral Home of Camilla will be in charge of arrangements. Interment will be in the church cemetery. she was a member of Fathers Home Free Will Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Nancy Cleveland and Tom Byron Dennard, of Mitchell County. She was married 47 years ago to C. S. Shirah who survives her in addition t six daughters, Mrs. W. L. Goodson, Mrs. E. C. Palmer, Mrs. W. R. Owen, all of Pelham RFD. Mrs. E. C. Carroll of Sale City, Mrs. O. C. Musselwhite and Mrs. L. E. Pollock, both of Winter Haven, Fla.; two sons, George W. Shirah and Charles S. Shirah Jr, both of Pelham RFD; four sisters and three brothers and twenty grandchildren.
