W. Jacobs Jr. as written in "The Albany Herald" dated 10 Jun 1959. O. W. (Cotton) Jacobs Jr., 34, of 508 Tenth Avenue, died 8 Jun 1959, at 7:30 AM in Phoebe Putney Hospital, after an illness of about three hours. Mr. Jacobs was born 19 Aug 1924, in Albany. He attended schools in Albany and graduated from the Luthersville, Ga., High School, later taking a business course at Marsh Business College in Atlanta. Mr. Jacobs was credit manager and bookkeeper for Gerst Brothers Furniture Company. During World War II, Mr. Jacobs worked for the U.S. Army at the Pentagon, Washington, D. C. He was a member of Albany Lodge 24, F&AM, and the present senior warden; a 32-degree Scottish Rite Masan, Hasan Temple. For many years he worked with and served as "Daddy Advisor" for Albany Assembly 28, Order of the Rainbow Girls. On 21 Jul 1956, Mr. Jacobs was awarded the Grand Cross of Color by The Supreme Assembly for distinguished service rendered in behalf of the Order of the Rainbow Girls. He attended Palmyra Road Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Mary Donna Shiver of Albany; a son, Sanford Lee Jacobs; father, O. W. Jacobs Sr of Greenville, Ga.; mother, Mrs. Clealan Jacobs of Albany; sister. Mrs. R. A. Casey of Albany; brother, R. C. Green of Albany; maternal grandmother, Mrs. A. A. Green of Albany; and a number of nieces and nephews, aunts, and uncles. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, 10 Jun 1959, at 4:40 PM at the Palmyra Road Methodist Church. The Rev Sam Buchanan and the Rev Roger Bass will conduct the services. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, with Masonic rites. Active pallbearers of Albany Lodge 24, F&AM; Honorary: Members of the Masonic Lodge. The Order of Rainbow Girls will attend in a body.
