Camilla, Georgia. Coming as a shock to family and a host of friends was news of the sudden death of Mr. Preston Hamilton Palmer who died at the age of 67 at his home in the Camilla Housing Project early Tuesday morning. He had been in ill health for some time. His wife discovered him dead when she arose Tuesday morning. Born in Mitchell County in Oct 1889 Mr. Palmer was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Palmer. Mr. Palmer farmed all of his life and was a landowner. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Camilla where funeral services were held Wednesday, 21 Nov 1956, afternoon. Rev Charles Duncan, pastor, officiated. Interment was in Oakview Cemetery. Nephews served as pall bearers. Bramlett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. In early life Mr. Palmer was happily married to the former Miss Minnie Lee Moore who survives him along with his two daughters, Mrs. Jack Culpepper of Winter Haven, Fla. and Mrs. Ben Bateman of Ft. Bragg, N. C.; one son, Jerome Palmer of Camilla; three brothers, including his twin brother Ambrose of Pelham Russ of Pelham and Tom of Camilla; two sisters, Mrs. Chan Powell of Pelham and Mrs. Roscoe J. Eubanks of Sale City.
