Camilla, Georgia. Services for Edwin Dant Thornton, 62, who died unexpectedly from an apparent heart attack early Friday 29 Nov 1968, were held Sunday, 1 Dec 1968, at Delwood Baptist Church with Rev Colvin Culverson officiating. Internment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Russell Sullivan, William Thornton, Thomas Thornton, Woodrow Darley, Ernest Darley and Lloyd Pollock. A native of Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert N. Thornton. He was employed as a carpenter and was a member of the Dellwood Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Taylor Thornton of Camilla; six sons, Gene Thornton of Albany, Jerry Thornton of West Hollywood, Fla., Flint Thornton of Houston, Tx., Dant, George and Neil Thornton all of Jacksonville, Fla.' a daughter, Mrs. Raymond Garza of Houston, Tx., three brothers, Albert F. and James W. Thornton of Miami, Fla., Fred Thornton of Camilla; two sisters, Mrs. C. E. Maples and Mrs. H. H. Keadle both of Camilla.
