Camilla, Georgia. Funeral services for George W. Shirah, 69, will be conducted today, Wednesday, 15 Sep 1965, at 4:00 PM at the Hopeful Baptist Church by the Rev Joe Holden. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Shirah, a native of Mitchell County, died Tuesday morning, 14 Sep 1965 after a long illness. He was a Mitchell County farmer and landowner in the Hopeful Community. He was a member of the Hopeful Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Katie Mercer Shirah, son, Lamar Shirah of Hopeful; two daughters, Mrs. Lucy Hansell of Greensboro, N. C. and Mrs. Helen Gugeino of Clemson, S. C.; two brothers, J. E. Shirah of Camilla and Carl J. Shirah of Bainbridge; four sisters, Mrs. Carl Harmon of Bainbridge, Mrs. Inman Gibbs of Tifton, Mrs. J. B Maples and Mrs. Floyd Taylor of Camilla. Bramlett Funeral has charge of arrangements.
