Camilla, Georgia. Jesse Columbus Shiver, 79, passed away Tuesday, 17 Sep 1968, at Mitchell County Hospital after a lengthy illness. The son of the late LLoyd and Elizabeth Luckey Shiver, Mr. Shiver was born in Mitchell County and lived here all his life. he was a farmer and landowner. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at Pine Cliff Baptist Church with interment in Oakview Cemetery in Camilla. The minister of Pine Cliff Baptist, the Rev Ben Rooks, conducted the services. Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Active pallbearers were Edward Cook, Weyman Cook, Larry shiver, Grayson Shiver, C. L. Daniels and Emmett Daniels. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Akridge, David Harrell, Pope Gray, James Shiver, Price Irvin, William Cochran, Wallace Joiner and Neal Shiver. Mr. Shiver is survived by three sons, Stanley Shiver of Quitman, Lynwood Shiver and Claud Shiver of Camilla; two daughters, Mrs. Leland Sharp of Hopeful and Mrs. Max French of Valdosta; one brother, Johnny Shiver of Camilla; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Wilson of Macon and Mrs. Ludie Daniels of Port St. Joe, Florida; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
