Lores Barton Brooks, age seventy-two, of Camilla, died Wednesday, 29 Dec 1965 at the Lake City, Fla., Veterans Hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held this afternoon, Friday, 31 Dec 1965 at 3:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev Jasper Sadler and Rev Lewis Crosby officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Legionaries will be in charge of the graveside services. Bramlett Funeral Home of Camilla is in charge of funeral arrangements. Pallbearers will be Ralph Collins, Dolphus Palmer, Leland Martin, Perry Willingham, Henry Hill Shiver and Brooksey Curles. Honorary pallbearers will include Ben Hill Palmer, Albert Palmer, John Collins, Tom Collins Sr., Sam Palmer, James Martin, Bennie Merritt and Dick Griner. Mr. Brooks was born in Mitchell County 5 Jan 1893, son of the late Jason Warner and Mary Griner Brooks. He was a veteran of World War I and had been employed as a meat cutter for a number of years in several local grocery concerns. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hazel Lovingood Brooks; three sons, James W. Brooks and John H. Brooks and Ben Brooks, all of Camilla; three daughters, Mrs. Gene Giles and Mrs. Mel Holland, both of Albany; and Mis Marie Brooks of Camilla; one grandson and one nephew.
