Johnson as written in "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 3 Nov 1976. Alfred L. Johnson, age sixty-eight, died at Mitchell County Hospital in Camilla Saturday, 30 Oct 1976, following an illness of several years from rheumatoid arthritis. Funeral services were held Sunday, 31 Oct 1976, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Parker- Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla with his pastor, Rev Edgar T. Davis Jr. officiating. Interment followed at Oakview Cemetery with Morris Edwards, Keith Palmer, Bob Palmer, Joe Palmer, Paul Palmer, Tony Shiver, Terry Shiver and Tom Palmer serving as pallbearers. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Wreath Palmer Johnson of Camilla; four sisters, Mrs. Bessie M. Burtz of Camilla, Mrs. Comer C. Bell of Albany, Mrs. James R. Mask of Pelham and Mrs. Marvin Edwards of Baconton. Two nephews and one niece also survive. Mr. Johnson was born 26 Jan 1908 in Mitchell County, son of the late Samps Johnson and Emma Pope Johnson. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Camilla. He worked for Smith Installment Company in Camilla for a total of thirty-five years, his genial manner with the public making many friends for him throughout the county. For the last several years of his employment his illness became worse and worse until he had to quit and retire. For the past several years he has been at his residence on South Harney Street, almost a complete invalid, his wife lovingly caring for him during his last days. Several weeks ago he went to Warm Springs to week some relief but became worse and was brought back to Mitchell County Hospital where he died on Saturday.
