Camilla, Georgia. The funeral for Edward W. Palmer, 66, Camilla, who died Friday 6 Oct 1972 at the VA Hospital in Dublin after a lengthy illness , was held Sunday, 8 Oct 1972 at 3:00 PM from the First Baptist Church. The Rev Edgar T. Davis Jr. officiated. Interment was in Oakview Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Harry Collins, George Temples, James Simmons, Jim Barrett, R. D. Covington, and Lewis Collins. Honorary escorts were Robert Culpepper, Joe Palmer, Charles Mathews, Alva Crow, Lester Turley, Bob Hughes, Tom Cobb and Jack Hall. Born in Mitchell County, 30 Mar 1906, he was a son of the late Thomas E. and Maggie Anderson Palmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II. He was employed for a number of years by the Escambia Chemical Company. survivors include his wife, Mrs. Agnes Bates Palmer of Camilla, two daughters, Mrs. William Hamil Jr. of Arlington, Ga., and Mrs. Percy Hornsby of Iron City, Ga.; six grandchildren; six brothers, Leslie Daniel Palmer of Colonial Beach, Va., Eustes Palmer of Tifton; Frank Palmer of Camilla, Turner Palmer of Mobile, Ala., Cecil Palmer of Albany and Tom Palmer of Hampton, Va. Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
