Camilla, Georgia. Grayson H. Shiver, 60, former resident of Pelham, died at the Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville Tuesday night November 13, 1979, at 9:30. Mr. Shiver had been in ill health for several years. Prior to his death, he had spent several weeks in the hospital's intensive care unit. A native of Pelham, he had lived in Thomasville for the past 40 years, where he was plant controller for Flowers Baking Company. He was retired by the company several years ago because of failing health. At the time of his death, he was living in Thomasville at 1509 East Pine Tree Boulevard. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Thomasville with the Rev. Milton Gardner officiating. Interment will be in the Pelham Cemetery. Born in Pelham on February 2, 1919, he was the son of the late Perry L. Shiver and Nellie Taylor Shiver of Pelham. A member of the First Baptist Church in Thomasville, he was a veteran of World War II. He also held life memberships in the Kiwanis and Touchdown Clubs. Mr. Shiver was popular and well-liked during the years he lived in Pelham. He had many friends here as well as in Thomasville. He was a member of a pioneer family of this city. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Nellie Taylor Shiver of Pelham; wife, Lois Shiver of Thomasville; two sons, Allen Shiver of Thomasville and Grayson Shiver, Jr. of Orlando, Florida; four daughters, Janet Hodges of Marietta, Ga., Annette Floyd of Woodville, Texas, Karen Brown of Seattle, Washington and Janis Crews also of Seattle; one sister, Mrs. Hiram (Sarah) Brown of Pensacola, Fla. Thirteen grandchildren also survive. Kirkland, Croy and Hughes Home for Funerals were in charge of the arrangements.
