Camilla, Georgia. Funeral services for Mr. Henry Thaxton Monk, Sr., 68 years of age of Pelham, who died early Wednesday morning, July 9, 1975 at his home will be conducted today (Friday) July 11, 1975 at eleven o'clock from the chapel of Braswell Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Sauls will officiate with interment in the Pelham Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Grady Martin, Bobby Faircloth, Jack Wynn, Gilbert Lewis, Joe Oxford, Bob McPherson and Terry Palmer. Mr. Monk was born in Moultrie, Colquitt Co., Ga. on November 23, 1906. He was married July 15, 1934 to Sarah McElvey who survives him. He was a member of the Hand Memorial United Methodist Church, Pelham Lodge 312, Pelham RAM Chapter 111, Hasan Temple in Albany and a retired employee of the Columbian Peanut Company. His parents were the late John Franklin and Rachel Clark Monk. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sarah M. Monk of Pelham; one son, H. Thaxton Monk Jr. of Pelham; four grandchildren; one brother Floyd Monk of Miami, Fla.; five sisters, Mrs Kennedy of Decatur, Miss Ethel Monk and Mis Ola Mae Monk of Moultrie, Mrs. Lila McRay and Miss Katie Lee Monk of Sebring, Fla. Braswell Funeral Home in Pelham will be in charge of funeral arrangements.
