Funeral services for Lois Twitty Bramlett, who helped found Bramlett's Funeral Home in Camilla, were held at 4:00 PM Saturday, 24 Dec 1988. Mrs. Bramlett was a prominent citizen of Camilla and became state president of the American Legion Auxiliary and a national chairwoman for the Legion Auxiliary. She was also a teacher. The services were held in the Parker Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev E. T. Davis and the Rev Harris Malcolm officiating. Burial was in Oakview cemetery. She was born 26 Mar 1900, daughter of the late Thomas Baker and Tennie Wood Twitty of Camilla. She was educated at Valdosta State College and Peabody College in Tennessee. She taught in Mitchell County schools prior to her marriage to James Rufus Bramlett 18 Jul 1922. She helped her husband establish Bramlett Funeral Home in 1928, which later became Parker=Bramlett Funeral Home and is now known as Parker Funeral Home. Mrs. Bramlett was the charter president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 141 in Camilla in 1936. She eventually held every local office. She was elected Second District president and then won the state presidency in 1945-1946. She was elected as national committee chairwoman of the auxiliary in 1947. One of her auxiliary duties was to christen a ship, the U.S.S. Moina Michael, in Savannah Harbor in 1946. She was a charter member of the Camilla Pilot Club and held a record of 41 years of perfect attendance. She was also a member of the Georgia Funeral Directors Association. Until ill health forced her retirement, she was active in the Camilla First Baptist Church. She was one of the officials in ceremonies a the groundbreaking for the pastorium. She is survived by a daughter, Martha Alexander of Smithville; two brothers, T. B. Twitty and Vernon Twitty of Camilla; three grandsons; three great grandsons; a great-granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pall bearers were Webb Bullard Jr., Vernon W. Twitty Jr., Frank Twitty Jr., Joe Barber Adams, Joe M. Palmer, James C. Smith, Brantley Collins and Tom Monk.
