Albany, Georgia. 1994. Robert Davis Mansfield, 62, of Newton, died Friday, 23 Sep, at the Miller County Hospital in Colquitt. Grave side services were held Monday, 26 Sep 1988, at 11:00 AM in the Newton Cemetery with the Rev. Lester Turley officiating. Mansfield, born 1 Sep 1826, in Worth County, Ga., was the son of Miles and Melvinia Shirah Mansfield and was married to Freddie D. Mansfield of Newton. He was a member of Newton Baptist Church and was a union organizer with United Steel Workers. Survivors include four sons, Dave of Springfield, Va., George of Tujunga, Ca., and John and Earl of Newton; five sisters, Eva Mansfield and Essie Laura Henry of Pelham, Verna Mostetter of Anderson, SC, Evelyn Johnson of Leesburg and Sarah Hall of Newton. Parker Funeral Home of Camilla had charge of arrangements.
