Page 282 (printed in newspaper 6 Jan 1993). Emma Williams Cook, 88, of Ocilla, Ga. died Saturday 2 Jan 1993, at the Irwin County Hospital in Ocilla, Ga. Memorial services were held at the 11:00 AM Tuesday 5 Jan at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany with the Rev. Bill Bagwell officiating. Burial was held at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Camilla. Born 9 Oct 1904, in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late G.A. (Gus) and Zenna Lastinger Williams. She was married to the late Walter E. Cook. Mrs Cook had lived in Ocilla since Sep 1992, from Leesburg. she was owner and former operator of Cookville Grocery in Lee County and was also a former seamstress for Rosenbergs Department Store in Albany. She was a member of the Order of Easter Star and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of the Keen Age Club and choir at Sherwood Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Weyman E. Cook of Ocilla; a daughter, Nell Cook Thornton of Milwaukee, WI.; a brother, E.A. (Buster) Williams of Camilla; a sister Nettie Jones of Ocala, Fl; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Paulk Funeral Home of Fitzgerald, Ga. was in charge of arrangements.
