Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Smith Maples 
as written in "The Camilla Enterprise" dated 19 Feb 1992.  

Camilla, Georgia.  
Mary Elizabeth Maples, 86, of Camilla died at 
her home on Saturday, 15 Feb 1992.  Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, 
18 Feb 1992, at Parker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev Jimmy Smith in charge.  
Burial was held in the Hopeful Cemetery.  Mrs. Maples was born in Mitchell County on 
18 Dec 1905, the daughter of the late Daniel A. Smith and Mary Frances Stephens.  She 
was a homemaker and the widow of the late Byron B. Maples.  Survivors include two 
daughters, Mary Bullard of Camilla and Nan Cheramie of LaRose, La.; three sons, Byron 
B. Maples of Chicago, Ill., Dan S. Maples of Sneville, Ga., and William T. Maples of 
Jacksonville, Fla,; three sisters, Frances Harris of Johns Island, SC, Eleanor Barr of 
Jacksonville, Fla, and Bertha Roberson of Thomasville; a brother, James Smith of 
Pelham; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Parker Funeral Home had charge 
of arrangements.
