Funeral services for Ruth Naomi Yeates Shirah, 89, of Roswell, were held Tuesday, 7 Jul 1998 at Cox Funeral Chapel, with Minister Bruce Quiggle and the Rev Luther Hastey officiating. Interment was in the Brinson Cemetery, with Rusty Kelley, Bobby Evans, Hill Yates, Harry Rich, Tommy Moore and Turner Brock serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Shirah died 2 Jul 1998 in Kennestone Hospital, Marietta, after a lengthy illness. She was born in and lived most of her life in Decatur County. She had lived in Roswell for the past year and a half. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Bainbridge. She was the wife of the late Carl J. Shirah Sr. Survivors include one son, Carl J. Shirah, Jr. of Bainbridge; two daughters, Louise Marshal of Roswell and Bainbridge, and Grace Holt of Tampa, Fla; a brother, James T. Sikes of Montgomery, Ala; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Cox Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
