Camilla, Georgia. Ruby Shirah Maples, 87. of Richmond Hill, formerly of Camilla, died Thursday morning, 19 Nov 1992, at the Liberty Manor in Midway. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, 21 Nov 1992 at Hopeful Baptist Church with the Rev Douglas Rumley and the Rev Joe Holden in charge. Burial will be in the hopeful Cemetery. Born 9 Jan 1905, in Mitchell County, Mrs. Maples was the daughter of the late George W. and Martha McCloud Shirah. She was a retired lunchroom supervisor and a retired farmer. She was the wife of the late James B. Maples. She was a member of the Hopeful Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Betty Timmons of Richmond Hill; two sons, B. E. Pope of Wauchula, Fla., and Ernest Pope of Corona Delmar, Cal.; a step daughter, Iona Lee of Leesburg; three step sons, Woodrow Maples of Zepher Hills, Fla., J. E. Maples of Camilla and Tom Maples of San Meto, Cal.,; two sisters, Sadie Taylor of Camilla and Lucille Jackson of Brookfield; 15 grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren and a number of great-great-grandchildren. The Parker funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
