Albany, Georgia. CAMILLA----Malcolm C. Phelps, 80, of 373 West Camellia Drive, Camilla, died Monday, September 10, 2001, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home with burial at Pinecrest Memory Gardens. John Elder and Jerry Whitmire will officiate. Pallbearers will be Carey Phelps, David Phelps, Dave Phelps, Mickey Phelps, Darrell Boutwell and Randall Boutwell. Born April 10, 1921 in Mitchell County, Mr. Phelps was the son of the late Carl D. and Nora C. Phelps. He retired June 26, 1981 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Inspector General as an Auditor. He was a member of the Beattie Road Church of Christ in Albany. In the 1960's, he established the Camilla Church of Christ. He was an Army veteran of WW II. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilberta A. Phelps and brother, Harry Phelps. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Holton Phelps of Camilla; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jimmy Lee Shiver of Baconton; a son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Debra Phelps of Albany; two stepsons, Bobby R. Holton and his wife, Gloria of Alpharetta and Randy Holton of Camilla; two sisters, Mabel Neal of St. Simons and Mary Ella Boutwell of Augusta; one brother, Duane Phelps of Camilla; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
